Sony's next gaming console may not include the much-heralded Cell architecture.

A report from Japanese outlet Impress Watch states Sony is considering several options for the design of the 'PlayStation 4,' including scrapping the Cell design entirely and moving towards a traditional PC multi-core processor.

Tech writer Hiroshige Goto says Sony is also looking at a new, modified version of the Cell processor, and Intel's Larrabee chipset as possible candidates. He also says that it seems unlikely we'll see a release of the 'PS4' until 2012 at the earliest, as it usually takes two years for a console to go from concept into full production.

Since it opened last week, James Cameron's much-anticipated film "Avatar" has won praise from movie critics and been a juggernaut at the box office. But some who have seen the film say that it contains hidden messages that are anti-war, pro-environment, and perhaps even racist.

For the benefit of those who haven't seen the film, a little nonspoiler background might be useful. The story is set in the year 2154 when Earth's inhabitants, having used up most of their natural resources through decades of living in excess, plan to use military force to conquer Pandora, a moon roughly the same size as Earth. Pandora, inhabited by a wise, peaceful, and nature-respecting people with blue skin called the Na'vi, is rich in a resource that the people of Earth desperately need.

Many of you are familiar with my hatred toward the overpowered akimbo shotguns. Thanks to today's patch (called patch 1.07 by Infinity Ward), cheap deaths caused by these weapons will bother players no more. They have been nerfed to hell! This patch also fixes the private match glitch, and according to one of Infinity Ward's community moderators, "I don't know if the prestige glitch did make it over to 360, but if so, that too has been addressed." And in case you are wondering, this patch already hit the PlayStation 3 last week.
