Teague Commits to UK

1 feedback »

Marquis Teague is headed to Kentucky.

The Pike High School junior made his decision public Thursday in an announcement at the school, ending months of speculation about his college plans. The 6-2 point guard is ranked No. 2 in the country by Rivals.com. He averaged 16.3 points, 4.6 assists and 1.6 steals as a junior at Pike.

Teague’s decision ends – sort of, he can’t sign a letter of intent until November – a back-and-forth battle that raged between Kentucky and Louisville in the days leading up to the decision.

Though he was also listing Cincinnati, Indiana and Purdue among his choices, it had been expected that it would come down to the Kentucky schools.

Louisville had been considered the favorite, primarily because of the long-standing relationship between Louisville coach Rick Pitino and Teague’s father, Shawn Teague, who played for Pitino at Boston University.

Hillbilly Days

The 34th Annual Hillbilly Days Festival had to be the most exciting and fulfilling event that we (Gearheart Communications) had ever been a part of in recent memory. This year, Gearheart Communications (Inter Mountain Cable, Coalfields Telephone & Broadband, Mikrotec Security & Internet Services) was able to raise some donation dollars with the combination of T-Shirt, Raffle (Front Row Tickets to the Hank Williams Jr. Concert) and Hat sales during this AWESOME three day event. This past Saturday, Adam and I presented a check for the amount of $2,400.00 to the Hillbilly Shriners Organization. This is what makes attending the Hillbilly Days Festival every year such a great feeling, "that you are helping children"

We would like to thank everyone who helped with the donations....With your help, kids will get the medical help that they need, free of charge.

Obama, Gaming, Weird

Gamers may soon be able to help reduce the United States' massive budget deficit.

In an effort to reduce the USA's $12.8 trillion federal budget deficit, President Barack Obama's fiscal commission co-chairman Erskine Bowles has asked Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer about creating a debt-reducing videogame, USA Today reports.

According to the report, the game would "enable anyone with a computer to take a stab at balancing the budget." Democratic Senator Bob Kerrey said the game could even "go viral."

"What you could get is support among the populace for the exceptionally unpopular things you need to do to solve this problem," added Kerry, who help release his own budget-reducing game called Budget Shadows for PC in 1994 as chairman of the Bipartisan Commission on Entitlement and Tax Reform.

Knight, Gilchrist Commit to UK

Send feedback »

As you may have already heard, 2010’s Brandon Knight and 2011’s Michael Gilchrist have committed to play for Kentucky. While the news was widely expected, the impact of these two commitments on the program can’t be underestimated.

The addition of Knight certainly vaults Kentucky’s class into the ten best in the country, and the potential additions of Doron Lamb, Terrence Jones or CJ Leslie, among others, would push it even further toward the top. Meanwhile, Gilchrist’s commitment is the first piece of what could be an absolutely monstrous class for 2011.

So tip your bourbon back, Cat fans. Arguably the best player in each of the next two recruiting classes has decided to don the Big Blue, and other fanbases are melting down as we reload. It’s a great day indeed.

Kanter Commits to UK!

Send feedback »

Evan Daniels of Scout.com is reporting Enes Kanter has committed to Kentucky. The 6′11″ Turkish big man (No. 6 Power Forward and rated as a 5 star) has been a late arrival on the recruiting scene and originally committed to Washington way back when. But now Daniels says he has cast his lot with UK today. According to Daniels, who has been high on this kid from the moment he arrived, Kanter has the complete skill package and is a big man who can do it all. He is not really the typical Euro big man that stays on the outside. According to Daniels, he likes to mix it up down low and can be a force on the post.
